Surgery Diary: First Two Weeks

Image
If you didn't already know, in January 2019 I injured my hip training. Thanks to Covid-19, it's been a long wait for surgery, but on the 14th of April, it finally happened! I know when I was waiting for surgery, I read a million blog posts on peoples surgery experiences, so I thought I'd make my own. I had surgery on my left hip for CAM impingement and a liberal tear on my left hip after two years of chronic pain. It's a relatively straightforward (but reasonably major) arthroscopic surgery, involving dislocating my leg to get a camera into my hip to get a good look at the damage and remove the CAM lesion. It is meant to be a day surgery, but I wasn't cleared to go home so ended up spending a night on the ward which I was actually very glad about! Week One! After my exciting night in hospital I was cleared to go home after being assessed by a physio on some stairs. Honestly, I was absolutely exhausted as I'd hardly slept that night and was in a reasonable amount

Post-Lockdown Looks: Buffet Dress

Image
Buffet Dresses were featured on this year's Sewing Bee as the perfect fashionable way to avoid accentuating those post lockdown lumps and bumps (and in my case surgical dressings) so I thought I would take one for a spin! I was honestly surprised by just how comfortable and flattering this dress was despite being way out of my comfort zone. Being quite petite I usually avoid midi lengths and looser fits but this dress may well have converted me! I felt pretty and stylish for the first time since leaving hospital without feeling uncomfortable or restricted. While the sun was shining, I was more than warm enough but as the night went on it began to get a bit chilly - luckily the pub garden had fur blankets for us to cuddle under. I would definitely recommend this style of dress to anyone looking to try something new, you might surprise yourself!           Dress: Lola May at ASOS Boots: Karl Lagerfeld Earrings: Olivia Burton Crutches: NHS -------------

Hi, I'm Garcey!

Hi, I'm Garcey! Hello friends and welcome to my blog! I'm a 20-something uni student who's currently recovering from hip surgery, so I thought I would put all that time confined to bed to good use and finally start a blog. I do a cross-disciplinary degree so my interests are broad, but here I'll mainly be focussing on fashion and lifestyle. So, like all good bloggers do - let's start with 10 facts about me! My name is Grace, or Gracie, or Garcey... I am 1 week and 1 day post hip arthroscopy after two years of chronic pain (and I already feel heaps better!) I split my time between London, where I grew up, and Vienna, where I'm studying. Despite maintaining for years that I am actually the average height for a woman in the UK, when I got measured before surgery I found out I am an 3cm shorter than I thought I was - so I will finally admit I'm a bit short. I don't have any piercings apart from my ear lobes, which I only got done for my birthday 6 months ag
